I’m pleased to offer two selections from the Five Books Choral Suite sessions with First Readings Project – Meditation Two: Tribulation & Bamidbar – in the Wilderness.

Interference Arts and First Readings Project invite you to attend two readings and recording sessions of Craig Harris’ Five Books Choral Suite on June 18 and 19, 2013. The Five Books Choral Suite offers windows into some of the stories and predominant themes found in the Five Books of Moses, the Old Testament. The underlying themes in the suite highlight humanity’s repeated efforts to realize their potential only to face failure and defeat, and their ongoing struggle to find their way “out of the wilderness” as they continue the journey.

Babel Lament, a composition by Craig R. Harris for a cappella chorus, is a lamentation on the Tower of Babel story. This post provides a link to the full audio recording, and some insights into the work.

Babel Clarion, for chorus and carillon, was premiered at the River Bells Music Festival in Minneapolis on May 4, 2013. This post includes links to the audio recording, a video that provides a glimpse into the festival, and an Artist Statement about the composition.
